He is one of the most recognized Mexican artists with 45 years of intense career. He studied at the National Conservatory of Mexico and later at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, where he obtained the degree "Soloist Cum Laude."
Praised by international critics as one of the most important recorder players and conductors worldwide, he is a promoter of the early music movement and the founder of Mexico's first baroque orchestra. He offers approximately 150 annual concerts, and with his extensive experience as a performer and educator, he has expanded the common perception of the recorder flute. His repertoire spans medieval, Renaissance, baroque, and contemporary music, including Latin American colonial music, traditional music, and popular music. During his tours across all five continents, he has conducted numerous masterclasses and participated in educational projects, as well as supporting marginalized and vulnerable sectors of society.
He has performed in prestigious venues such as the Palace of Fine Arts/Mexico, Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center/New York, the Berlin Philharmonic Hall, the Forbidden City Concert Hall/Beijing, Bunka Kaikan/Tokyo, Tzavta Hall/Tel Aviv, the Sydney Conservatorium, the Opera Hall/Thailand, Wigmore Hall/London, and in many important festivals around the world.
Currently, he is a member of the Commission for Historical and Cultural Memory of the Presidency of the Republic, the Cultural Council of Mexico City (CDMX), and the Cultural Diplomacy Commission of the Ministries of Culture and Foreign Relations. He has been a full-time professor at the National Conservatory of Music since 1985.
