I was born in the vibrant Mexico City, back when it was still the Federal District, into a family of teachers, state workers, and academics. I studied Computer Science at the School of Sciences of the National Autonomous University of Mexico; I am currently a student in the Philosophy of Science Postgraduate Program at the same university.
Since 2014, my research has been focused on understanding Robert Rosen's mathematical work at the intersection of cognitive science and mathematical biology. My additional research interests revolve around the computational limits of the universe and the development of a General Philosophy of Computing. My secondary interests include teaching and promoting Computer Science, the study of Medieval Philosophy, engaging with medieval authors from the perspective of Computer Science, and understanding the ethics related to non-human animals in a world increasingly influenced by Artificial Intelligence.
In academia, I wrote my undergraduate thesis in Computer Science on the computational nature of Robert Rosen's (M,R)-Systems, where I explored recent attempts to understand if (M,R) is a class of computable systems. My conclusions regard (M,R) as a class that surpasses the limits of Turing-computability.
To obtain a Master's degree in Philosophy of Science (specializing in Philosophy of Mathematics and Logic of Science), I am working on a thesis exploring Rosen's notion which identifies cells as amalgams of both software and hardware, both from a computational and philosophical standpoint.
In 2022, I created and inaugurated the first Philosophy of Computation course at UNAM.
Currently, I lead the Research Group on General Philosophy of Computation at the Faculty of Sciences of our National University, where we also hold an ongoing seminar on related topics.
In 2023, as the committee president, I organized the 1st Philosophy of Computation Symposium in Latin America. In the software industry, I have been working for years as a User Experience and Digital Product Designer. I greatly enjoy traveling, photography, listening to music, reading, and spending time with my cats. Additionally, I am an avid collector of mid-century objects.
