Abstract:
At their inception, neither the Internet nor the Web required intrinsic security, so none was built in. Fast forward to today, and we are in a multi-trillion-dollar global cybersecurity crisis. The cost of cybercrime is estimated at several percentage points of GDP worldwide. This cost is worth thousands of dollars per year for every man, woman and child in the US alone. In this talk, we highlight two “worldwide weaknesses” in the architecture of the Web itself. We then introduce a new universal architecture that eliminates them. We call it the Mesh, and it is secured by the Universal Name System (UNS) and Universal Certificate Authority (UCA).
